Curmudgeon’s Corner: The Crybaby Spartans Kissing Tradition
Preface from the editor:
Loyal Champagne followers, as many of you know, I (Frank) am a loyal MSU Alumni and rarely, if ever, post anything celebrating the University of Michigan, despite half of our following probably being U of M fans, and I DEFINITELY have never posted anything from the Michigan perspective disparaging our Spartans. But as we continue to grow and expand our perspectives, I’ve decided it’s time to give Wolverine fans a voice on this channel, and that’s what the following article is. Please read keeping in mind I (Frank) don’t agree with a single word, but I know there’s many out there who do. God speed.
What’s all the fuss about the ending of the Wolverines’ game yesterday vs. Sparty? From what I saw, every Spartan senior was able to kiss the logo – and it’s a fine tradition. I guess I didn’t know (neither did anyone else) that it required that nobody could be touching the logo! It reminded me of little kids getting angry at their older siblings, “MA! He’s touching my stuff!”.
Apparently it’s such an intricate tradition that it comes with rules for other teams to follow. Here’s an idea – just kiss the logo, exit to the bench and quit making things complicated. To be honest, Michigan probably didn’t even know Fidler and Zapala were seniors since they’ve only been in East Lansing a minute and haven’t done much of note – including yesterday, when they combined for an incredible 6 points and 26 minutes played (only slightly longer that this logo-kissing nonsense lasted).
Maybe next year the Spartans can have Matt Ishbia spring for some velvet ropes ringing the logo to make sure everyone is far enough away.
