Spartan Strong 💚
As I sit here and stare aimlessly into the computer trying to think of something unique and heartfelt about the situation that happened at Michigan State, I am quickly realizing there is not much I can come up with other than how sorry I am for everyone involved in this situation.
When I heard the news early Tuesday morning (2/14), I was pretty shaken up about it all day. I was a Spartan. I had classes at Berkey Hall and spent many hours in the Student Union. I truly can’t imagine what it must have been like to be a student on that campus or be one of the families or friends enduring this impossible situation.
MSU is one of the most sacred places to me. A place I created some of the best memories and met some of the best people. For this random act of terrorism to rob students of the joy the place brings, and their security on campus, is despicable. My heart goes out to everyone involved.
As I watched Izzo speak on the topic and then the Spartan basketball team take the floor for the first time @ Michigan, then again vs Indiana, I was once again reminded of why I am such a proud Spartan, and why I now have a lump in my throat as I write this.
I’m proud of how the school has handled everything. I’m proud to be able to call Tom Izzo our coach. And I’m proud of the 18-to-22 year-old kids for being able to not only show up and physically play those games, but to do it with pride, passion, and fervor.
Watching Michigan honor MSU on Saturday was special, then MSU beating #17 Indiana at home last night was exceptional.
