Wings’ photo harsh reminder of how shitty the last 8ish months have been

You don’t need me to tell you this hasn’t been a great year for our boys donning the Winged Wheel. But these photos were posted by the Wings’ social media team are a quick reminder just how shitty the past 8-9 months have been for the Red Wings’ organization and their fans.

The intention of the photos posted on the Wings’ social is to show the patch the team will wear to honor Detroit man, myth, legend Mike Ilitch, affectionately referring to him simply as “Mr. I.” But slightly out of focus you are able to see the patch that represents when everything about the Wings started to go down the shitter.

The death of Gordie Howe, Mr. Hockey, who many argue as the greatest hockey player to ever live occurred on June 10th, 2016.

8 days later, Pavel Datsyuk, undoubtedly our best active player- which has become clearer than ever during this season, decided he was all set on the NHL and dipped out back to Russia to make fools of everyone in the KHL and walk through leafy overpasses with his daughter.

Then from there, the Wings proceeded to have the offseason from hell in preparation for a complete dumpster fire season which currently has these idiots sitting in DEAD LAST in the East.

The end of the playoff streak looms and so does the demolition of last great American hockey barn the NHL will ever see. I’m really looking for a positive right now outside of looking forward to the new arena and I am kinda lost. So I’ll just give you guys a picture of Darren McCarty standing on the boards dishing out pucks and some super bros completely losing their minds over it. 🍾
