Champagne Selection Sunday Week 15: Favorites Dominate The Slip & Stafford Is The Toughest QB In The League
Week 15. I said it last week and I’ll say it again, I think it’s absolutely mind blowing how the NFL season goes from week 3 to week 15 in the blink of an eye. We’re already into the fantasy play offs and the NFL flexing games to Saturday’s. Football is a lot of fun this time of year and this year is no different. The lines become a lot bigger as we see some teams waving the white flag on the year versus those pushing towards the ultimate goal. This week, we have a lot of lopsided match ups, but will the big dogs cover? For the sake of my slip, let’s hope so.
TAMPA BAY -6.5 @ Atlanta, 1pm EST: The Bucs are simply the better team. Atlanta has had an extreme fall from grace since their 28-3 Super Bowl collapse and have never been able to fully recover. Tom Brady dominates this time of year and won’t let a division bottom feeder effect his standing on the playoffs this late in the season. While I don’t think it will be a blowout, Tampa covers. Final: Tampa Bay 33, Atlanta 24
BALTIMORE -13 vs Jacksonville, 1pm EST: I told you this week was filled with favorites, and this giant line is no different. There is no reason Baltimore shouldn’t absolutely beat the lowly Jags at home. Minshew is back for Jacksonville but he won’t be able to keep pace with a red hot and rejuvenated Baltimore offense. Final: Baltimore 35, Jacksonville 20
CLEVELAND -6.5 @ New York Giants, 8:30pm EST: I have never heard a team receive more love in a loss than the Cleveland Browns last week versus division rival Baltimore. In my mind, that game was the game of the year. The Browns defense gave up 40+ points vs Lamar and the Ravens, this week they tighten it up on D and get a much less dynamic offense with the Football Giants. Browns continue to light up the scoreboard and dominate the run, while also keeping a banged up Danny Dimes in check. Final: Browns 27, Giants 13.
Teaser of the Week (7.5 point teaser)
Whoa! Would ya look at that, more favorites. Sure, there will be upsets this week and I haven’t had a perfect board this year, but in week 15 when we have a ton of playoff contenders playing against teams figuring out where they will be drafting next year, I’ll take my chances on the better teams. That’s why this week’s teaser were taking RAMS -9.5 with COLTS +0.5. Colts should beat the reeling Texans at home and the Rams have no excuse not to beat the living shit out of the Jets at home today.
OUR LIONS 🏥🤕🔨
It’s week 15 and Lions are out of the playoff chase, are currently run by an interim head coach, the Packers have won the NFC North, and Matthew Stafford is banged up. Have we ever heard this before? It’s another groundhog day season for the Lions as they head into Tennessee to take on Derrick Henry and the Titans. I said after the Lions were gifted a win by the Bears in week 12 that they would finish the year 0-4 and I am fully sticking to that. To say I commend Matthew Stafford’s toughness and dedication to playing for this team week in and week out would be an understatement. There is no better way to be beloved by Detroit fans than to play with the grit, toughness, and determination that Stafford has shown throughout his tenure here in Detroit. And for him to openly say he wants to play this week in a game that has no effect on the Lions current season, on the road, after getting injured last week, says a lot about Matthew’s commitment to the Lions and the game of football. I love Matthew Stafford. But in year 12, at the age of 32, and a new Lions regime on the horizon, many are questioning if we are getting close to seeing Stafford’s last game as a Lion. It’s hard to envision, but knowing that is becoming the only reason to watch the Lions in these last few weeks. Staff is going to, as he always does, play with a lot of heart today, I just don’t think he has enough around him to beat the Titans on the road today. Final: Titans 31, Lions 22
