Champagne Selection Sunday: WILD CARD WEEKEND (PART 2)

nfl playoffs

Hey not a bad day yesterday team. 2-1. Anytime we can come out on the positive or even the push side of things that’s a huge W. I’ve put a lot of faith in the Bills this postseason but their D seems like absolute Swiss, the Rams D seems to be as formidable as ever, and even though Tampa won, they showed a lot of heart in a game many didn’t think they had a chance in. My heart comment may or may not have a direct correlation to them covering.

Either way, let’s jump into today’s slate of action.

TITANS +3.5 vs Ravens, 1:10pm EST: Baltimore heads into Tennessee for a chance at the rematch of last year’s playoff upset where the upstart Titans held the explosive MVP-lead Ravens to just 12 points. John Harbaugh, Lamar, and the entire Ravens roster will have a lot of pent up anger to avenge last year’s playoffs as the Titans ruined what was looking like a dream season for the the Midnight Birds. But Vrabel, Tannehill, Henry, and AJ Brown are too much for the Ravens to handle today. I don’t fully understand why Tennessee is a home dog to a team they have proven they know how to beat. We should see some points on the board in this one, but I don’t think the Ravens can sustain Derrick Henry and the Titans offense for an entire game on the road. Final: Titans 36, Ravens 27

SAINTS -10 vs Bears, 4:45pm EST: I didn’t know until the middle of the day during week 17 that the Bears even still had a shot at the playoffs. I honestly had no idea. Yet here we are in Wild Card Weekend and the Monsters of Midway (8-8) are headed down to Nawlins to play the 12-4 Saints. The Bears are a broken team who had the benefit of playing the Lions, Texans, Vikings, and Jags in four of their last five games to close the season, to give them a playoff spot. Making the playoffs was their Super Bowl for the year and even though the Saints love losing in the first round to the NFC North, I give the Bears little to no chance of keeping this one close. Final: Saints 38, Bears 18

STEELERS -5.5 vs Browns 8:25pm EST: The Browns are charged up. For the first time in EIGHTEEN years the Cleveland Browns are back in the playoffs. They have been an exciting team to watch this year and you have to applaud them for their 11-5 record, although it should be taken with a grain of salt. Their strength of schedule is almost laughable outside the division (which includes two games vs lowly Cincy). Outside the division the Browns got the NFC East (lol) then the Raiders, Texans, Jags, and Jets….where they went 2-2. They did have good wins over the Colts and Titans, but to close this year they lost to the Jets, and were just able to squeak out a playoff birth vs the Steelers backups as Mike Tomlin simply watched and strategized for how to beat them this week. The Browns are still the little brother in this division, and the Steelers prove that further today. Final: Steelers 31, Browns 24
