Oh Chicago, I Almost Feel Bad For You
Hooooooooolllllllyyyyyyy shit. HOLY SHIT. The NFC North Champions and the #3 seed in the playoffs were bounced out of post season contention last night at home by Big Dick Nick Foles and the Eagles last night.
With 10 seconds left in the game, and trailing 16-15, the Bears and Cody Parkey had the chance to win the wild card game at home with a 43 yard field goal attempt. Parkey, who had missed 11 field goals prior during the year (2nd in the NFL), lined up and drilled the kick….unfortunately right before the snap, the Eagles called a time out, negating the made field goal.
After lining up again, the unthinkable happened during the kick that would actually count:
Dual Doink. Season over.
Idk if you remember the Bears game vs the Lions earlier in the year where he hit the upright 4 times in one game. Something that is honestly impressive to pull off.

Now, Parkey is a human and I have never failed at my job on national television. But on the other hand he is a millionaire and on the other other hand he is a Chicago Bear, and this kind of shit has been happening to the Lions my entire life and generations of lifes before mine. So to see Chicago, the number one defense in the NFL, lose at home, in their first playoff appearance since 2010, was pretty selfishly satisfying.

I can’t imagine what would have gone through my head if this happened to the Lions. I would definitely have called off of work the next day/thrown myself head first out of my living room window. God knows how much money I would have had on the Lions moneyline on this game as well. I’ve seen reaction videos of Bears fans losing their god damn minds and wishing death on Cody Parkey, and I can’t say I would be above doing any of that. I somewhat feel their pain, I have never had a Lions team be as good as this Bears team was, but we as Lions fans have been bent over sideways for like 50+ years. So for Chicago to get a taste of what that heartbreak feels like doesn’t make me too upset. Plus I think Foles is the man. Cheers on the great season Chi-Town.
