Something In My Soul Is Telling Me Pavel Datsyuk Will Be Red Wing Once Again
Now there are two ways to gamble on sports. You can gamble with your head, or you can gamble with your heart. Now while I have miraculously found a way to lose both ways, anyone with experience in the sports gambling ring will tell you- never gamble with your heart. Your heart acts on impulse and desire as opposed to your head which looks at actual factual statistics and realistic outcomes. But 95% of the reason we all love sports so much is because of what our heart tells us. We get emotionally connected and are blinded by what we love and want to happen, and in sports- it happens. Upsets, surprises, flukes, and the unexpected happens. The unexpected is almost expected when it comes to sports.
Recently, we caught word Pavel Datsyuk is leaving his current team in the KHL and is considering three options- retiring, going to play for his hometown team in the KHL, or returning to the Wings. His agent has made it clear IF, (big IF) he is to return to the NHL it would only be with our Detroit Red Wings. (His rights are currently owned by Arizona, but those will expire in late June, leaving Pavel free to do whatever the F he wants to do.)
In addition to all this, Datsyuk took a trip back to the D to show his family where he used to snap goalie’s groins like wishbones. So he’s quit his current team, his agent is saying there is definitely a possibility he returns, and he was in Detroit this week.
🤔
Now I spoke with someone a little closer to the situation than I am (look at me putting that journalism degree to use) and they said there is a “0% chance he comes back to the Wings.”
But guys, I don’t know what it is. I am kept up at night by this. My head is telling me “no way, no chance. He is a part of the Red Wings past. It’s over. He has no place on this rebuilding Red Wings team.” But my heart says
I swear it’s like my Detroit Red Wings Spider-Sense is going off right now and I just can’t stop thinking he’s going to sign on for 1 or 2 more years for like 3-4 million. Now, I honestly don’t know anything about the KHL, or the skill level over there. But everything I’ve read has said it’s obviously legit and he could definitely hang and bang in the NHL still. He averaged just under a point per game over there. He was nearly a point-a-game player in the KHL, producing 147 points (104 assists) in 166 games (freep.com).
I feel like 104 apples could help out the likes of a guy like Abdelkader who put up a whopping 6 goals 13 assists last year in route to a -14 rating. We have a lot of young studs who can bury the puck, and I feel like even if Pavel came back and played the wing with these young cats, he would have a big impact. I know the guy will be 41 come the start of next season, but he would put asses in the seats and find the back of the net, I know he would. This is fucking Pavel Datsyuk we’re talking about here.
I could be way off but I don’t care. This is heart bet. Pavel’s coming back. He’s gonna help the Wings future Captain Dylan Larkin put up 50 next year en route to a 7th seed playoff spot.
I’ve got the fever. That wild Cup Crazy fever.
