This photo perfectly sums up the 2016-17 Red Wings season

Welp team. Here it is, and here WE are. The Wings are currently doing the last place no pants dance with the piss-shit Buffalo Sabres in the Atlantic Division, and actually trail them by 5 points. We’re on a 3-game losing streak with guys like Robbie Russo getting PT on the Wings completely talent barren and depleted blue line. But with the way Kenny Holland is operating lately, Russo’s stat line of 15 minutes of ice, an even plus/minus and one blocked shot is likely to get Russo a 5-year deal somewhere in the range of 4-5 million a year.

We’re a bad team. And last night when Toronto, coached by ex-Wings Stanley Cup Champion Mike Babcock, went up 1-0 before the zamboni even got off the ice I’m sure many viewers out there just changed the channel because right now- what’s the point? I’d much rather spend my evenings crying or catching up on Guy Fieri’s latest noodle slurp on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

And that brings me to the picture this article is about- Blashill standing behind the Wings’ bench in Toronto looking disheveled as all fuck with a gnarly-ass black eye from a puck he took to the peeper the Saturday prior (video below) as yet another one of his overused challenges gets denied 1 minute and 7 seconds into the game.

Yanno those pictures they show of the President when he enters office, then a picture of him four years later? And he’s aged like a mother fucker? Well Blashill looks like the just recently mugged version of the “after” picture.

If you guys missed it, here is the video of Blash taking one off the brow. And the real irony comes to play here as it was our boy #15, Riley Sheahan, that clipped his coach.

Sheahan doesn’t have a goal this season and every Red Wings fan/anyone with eyes can see the guy does not belong on an NHL roster at this point in the season. But the one guy who has stood by him and penciled him into the roster for almost every single game of the NHL season is the same guy Riley decided to smoke in the face with a misguided puck he was aimlessly backhanding to no-mans-land. It’s truly incredible.

The guy can’t hit the back of the net but boy does he know how to annihilate his biggest supporters.

Here’s to 2017-18. #lgrw 🍾
