Champagne Selection Sunday Week 13: Locks Of The Week & NFC North Dumpster Bowl

Last Updated: December 6, 2020By

Well here we are team, week 13. It’s hard to believe we are this far into the season, but then again, this happens every year. We wait for what feels like forever for football to get here, and then when it does it seems to wiz by like Barry Sanders did #75 on the Cowboys in this clip below.

Let’s get right into it.

TENNESSEE -4 vs Cleveland, 1pm EST: I said it on The Fizz this week and I’m sticking to it here. This is my lock of the week and I was willing to take the Titans at -6. Derrick Henry is being created player end-of-the-year Derrick Henry right now and the Titans are looking to take their respective division. The Browns are very quietly 8-3, but I think when push comes to shove the Browns are going to Browns and Baker is going to Baker on the road. Titans handle Cleveland today. Final: Titans 30, Browns 18

GREEN BAY -8.5 vs Philly 4:30pm EST: Philly stinks out loud. They really do. Being an Eagles fan right now has to really suck, and that is coming from a guy who has been watching the Lions on Sunday’s for the past 20+ years. The Eagles completely lack an offensive line and it seems the city has completely turned on Carson Wentz. They popped Jaylen Hurts in for a few plays last week that only further confused what the true direction of this team actually is. Meanwhile, the Pack continue to dominate the NFC North, and the Rodgers revenge tour continues. Final: Green Bay 35, Philly 17

LA RAMS -2.5 at Arizona 4:10pm EST: I went huge on the Rams last week and they absolutely fucked me. I called them a dark horse Super Bowl contender and last week they lost to Nick Mullens and the depleted 49ers in their own barn. This week they get another crack at a divisional match-up against a Cardinals team I believe to be trending downward. I don’t think McVay lets his team fall in the division for the second week in a row. Final: Rams 24, Arizona 20

Teaser of the Week (7.5 point teaser)

Let’s make this one as easy as possible. In all my Sunday picks this season the Teaser of the Week has far and away been my most successful advice. Sure, it’s missed before, but it’s missed a lot less than all the other bullshit I’ve thrown at you. So again, let’s keep this simple. Let’s take two good teams heavily favored at home and bring down their spread to ensure victory. MIAMI -3 vs CINCY with SEATTLE -3 vs NY GIANTS. See? Doesn’t that feel good?

OUR (PATRICIA-LESS) LIONS

This week we get to watch our Lions for the first time since 2017 without Matt Patricia grimacing with that awful face on the sideline after his team blows a double digit lead. Darrell Bevell takes the reins in a Week 13 showdown of two teams who couldn’t be trending downward faster- The Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears. Bevell seems determined to not only make the Lions “fun” again, but he also seems hell bent on winning over the head coaching job. Now, I couldn’t be less excited about the prospects of Bevell becoming our next head coach, but when it comes to picking games week by week, guys, I gotta be honest here….I absolutely LOVE the Lions this week. I don’t love the roster, the team, their record, or this organization at all this year, but I do LOVE them to win this week. I think even my dumb ass standing on the sideline with a clipboard this week would be enough for the boys to beat Chicago. They are going to play with nothing to lose, because truly they have… nothing to lose. I believe just the simple relief the players are feeling right now as a result of Patricia and Quinn being fired is enough to ensure they they will win. In addition, the Bears are completely reeling. They have lost 5 in a row and are in a seesaw battle with who they want to have at starting quarterback, which we’ve learned- does not matter. In addition, the room is very tight and tense in Chicago as Matt Nagy knows his time as the head coach there is very limited, quite possibly to a week-by-week basis. I think Stafford goes off today and the Bears continue to be completely inept on offense. Lions play loose vs their divisional rival this week and Bevell does something in one game that Patricia was unable to do in 3 years here- beat Chicago. Final: Lions 27, Bears 17.

Also, if you haven’t seen it, this is the best Lions highlight of the entire season, and it has nothing to do with on field play.
